The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter

The sun dreamt of putting on
the reflective illumination of the moon.

The moon feverishly wished
that It could outshine the sun.

The earth bowed her head and prayed
that the moon and sun,
would eventually learn to love themselves

Dogs And Love

The dogs ask me why,
again today..

With eyes so sad and brown,
they question where you’ve gone.

How do I explain
the cruelly of human love
to creatures who are so loyal?

This one won silver and honorable mention in two contests.

Gardening And Poetry

I tiptoe around, finding fault
with crafty imposters pretending
to be polished poetry.

Today the contours of my words,
all seem hideous and unmanageable.
I fight too hard to bend them into shape.

I slide old poems I’ve written
over my tongue like souvenirs,
hoping for instant inspiration.
Nothing but rubbish tumbles out.

Turns out it might be
a great day for gardening after all.

This one won gold in a contest.

Stranded Stars

Last thing I glimpse
before surrendering
to the frayed silhouette of the moon,
is another stranded star
that needs rescuing.

This one won gold in a contest.

Blessed By Moonlight

The lactating, northern moon spills
across the ribbons of the milky way
feeding the lyrical silver stars,
reflecting their light across the waiting sky.

Reverberating golden energy,
erasing the silhouettes of
of night's dark loneliness.

Reflective lunar magic,
creating gossamer laced visions,
that I clutch at with eager hands.

Kissed

Beloved,
allow me to ask you
how does it feel
when the gentle breeze
falls in a loving caress
across your weary face?

Can you sense a presence
in the warmth..
as you are kissed
oh so softly
by the enduring
breath of God?

Hope

Formed in the salt water of a single tear,
a prayer slides unnoticed
through the star studded atmosphere.

A heavenly being finally finds it
clinging softly to a star.
It’s dewy presence glittering
in the glow of the moon.

There is little hope
trapped in its essence,
just a tiny seedling of perhaps..
but the angel knows that belief holds the seed,
from which miracles are formed.

She cradles the tear in the palm of her hand,
as on radiant wings of grace
she flies beyond the clouds.
There she places the precious gift
into God's majestic hand.

God caresses the tear,
mixing it with one of his own...
blending belief with healing
as another prayer is answered
because of a tiny seed of hope.
