Waiting for Summer

Waiting for Summer

Summer is old and wrinkled
Fall nips piercingly at the edges.
The hummingbirds have all departed
To sip sweet nectar elsewhere.
Too soon winter will emerge
With bone drenching cold.
My porch swing sits abandoned
Now waiting for summer’s sweet return.
