Writing Love Poems

A sudden awakening of night,
distant sky spilling spring songs.

Pushing away straying stars,
the moon spreads
her ginger toned ambience.

Star thoughts beckon
repeating little girl dreams
as the old woman inside me
pretends she doesn’t notice.

Without thinking,
I start exploring vowel sounds
as the moon swells
under my pen.

Tonight I will write you a love
poem that will sweep
us both into the flaming heat
of a moonlight night.
