SCATTERING MOONLIGHT

You’ve been hopping
in and out
of my poetry
scattering moonlight recklessly.

A trail of adjectives
demand I describe
your beauty
and the feel
of your velvety, soft skin..

But it’s the messy moments
that keep popping up
as metaphors.

A foreign language
that speaks
of things unsettled and unsure.
